What exactly did you do at Quimitex?
We automated reporting and reconciliation on top of the admin system they already used, in phases, each one shipping something that works. What matters is what we did NOT do: no migration, and no change to the tool their people work in.
My system is old — does it have to be replaced?
Almost never. A system with years on it usually has the business logic baked in; building alongside it and reading from it is cheaper and far less risky than moving everything. When replacing really is the right call, we say that too.
Do you have to come to the plant?
At the start it helps: a diagnosis goes better when you can see the operation. After that development moves remotely, which is faster for both sides than coordinating trips.
